Promoting Your Business at Beyond the Pale Festival: Branding Checklist for Festival Marketers
Good Beyond the Pale festival branding has two jobs: it has to catch the eye of a camping crowd across an open estate, and it has to get through three days of Wicklow weather in June. The festival is scheduled for Friday 11 to Sunday 13 June 2027 at Glendalough Estate, Co. Wicklow, so if you're an approved trader, food vendor or brand partner, your stand graphics, flags and signs need to work outdoors all day and into the night.
We're a Wicklow print and display company with more than 20 years in large-format print, and Glendalough is on our doorstep. What follows is the advice we'd give any business planning a space there for 2027.
Beyond the Pale 2027 dates, venue and exhibitor details
The sixth edition of Beyond the Pale runs over the second weekend of June 2027, subject to licence, and weekend camping tickets are already on sale. The festival describes itself as three days of music, art, food and wellness in the woods and lakeside setting of Glendalough Estate. Here's what is confirmed and what is still to come.
| Detail | What's confirmed |
|---|---|
| Dates | Friday 11 to Sunday 13 June 2027 (subject to licence) |
| Venue | Glendalough Estate, Co. Wicklow, about 30 minutes from Dublin |
| Public opening hours | Not yet published; the official FAQ gives last entry as 10pm each night |
| Trader set-up and breakdown | Not yet published; confirm with the organisers when you apply |
| Trader applications | Opening shortly for 2027, according to the official FAQ |
Two things stand out for us. First, a camping festival with last entry at 10pm means your stand is trading into the evening, so think about how your branding reads in low light. Second, don't book a courier or van slot until the organisers confirm your set-up and breakdown windows. Vehicles aren't allowed in the campsites and the free car park is about a 10-minute walk away (see the travel page), so ask the organisers early how kit gets to your pitch. Displays that pack into carry bags make far more sense here than anything that needs a pallet truck.
How to book a trader or brand partner space
For traders, the official FAQ says applications for 2027 "will open shortly". There's no live form yet, and no published fees, pitch sizes, deadlines, power supply or signage rules. Keep an eye on the FAQ and get in touch through the festival's contact page so you're ready when it opens.
If you sell food, the Beyond the Plate tent is where it happens: talks, tastings and chef pop-ups alongside the festival's food and drink vendors. Ask the organisers directly what they look for in a vendor. Brands are in a similar position. The festival does work with partners (the late-night Club Cú-Cú area carries a car brand's name), but there's no public sponsorship package, so the contact page is your way in.
One rule shapes everything you order. Gazebos, flags and banners are for approved traders and partners, in the space they've agreed with the festival. So before you order anything, get your pitch dimensions, the structures you're allowed, flag heights and how things may be fixed, all in writing. We'd much rather print your kit once, at the right size.
Beyond the Pale festival stand checklist
Work through it in this order. The first items give you a base and visibility; the later ones finish the space and help your team work it.
A structure that marks out your space
If your agreement allows a structure, a branded gazebo is the anchor of an outdoor stand: shelter for your team and stock, and a printed canopy people can spot from across the field. Go for an aluminium frame, which is lighter to carry from the car park and won't rust after a wet weekend, and add side walls if you'll be exposed to wind. Brand partners planning a bigger activation should look at Aerotents, which make a striking branded space without a heavy frame.
A counter to sell or serve from
A bare trestle table looks temporary. A promotional pop up counter sets up in minutes and puts your brand right where people pay or chat. If you're using your own tables, a fitted stretch fabric table cover stays put in a breeze better than a loose drape. Bring a spare for Sunday. Three days of food, drink and muddy hands will show on a single cover.
Height that reads across the site
At a festival, people look over heads, not at counters. Feather flags and teardrop flags move in the slightest wind, and that movement draws the eye. Put them at the edges of your space with just your logo or one word, and use ground spikes on grass. If the festival allows roaming promotion, backpack flags let your team carry the brand with them, but ask first.
A backdrop and photo spot
Inside a gazebo or tent, a tension fabric display gives you a clean, crease-free backdrop that packs into a bag. Brand partners who want people photographing their space should consider a step-and-repeat media wall; fabric photographs better than glossy vinyl under festival lights. If the organisers confirm you'll have power, a 2m x 2m lightbox keeps you visible once the sun goes down.
Banners, menus and wayfinding
For stand fronts and fences, PVC banners with reinforced eyelets are the workhorse. Prices and menus change, so print them on Corriboard signs, which are light, easy to swap and simple to cable-tie. For a menu board that needs to stay flat and rigid in a sheltered spot, we'd use Foamex board. An A-frame sign at the edge of your pitch can carry today's offer or point people towards you.
Your team
Staff should be easy to find in a busy crowd. Recycled rPET lanyards with breakaway clips identify your team and hold their passes. When your staff and your stand share the same brand colours, the whole space looks like one business.
A message people can read in three seconds
People walk past a festival stand; they don't stop to read it. Give each sign one job. Your business name should be readable from the far side of the walkway, then one short line saying what you offer, then prices big enough to read without stepping closer, then one action: buy, scan, follow or sign up. If a sign needs a paragraph, it needs rewriting.
Use strong contrast (dark on light or light on dark) and test it: print a draft at A4 and look at it from a few metres away. Proofread every word, because a typo on a 3m banner is a typo nobody can miss. Supply artwork at full resolution for the final size. Our branded banner design checklist goes through file set-up in more detail.
Reusable branding or event-specific signage
Our advice is to split your kit into two layers. The permanent layer (gazebo, flags, backdrop, counter, tablecloth) carries only your name, logo and core message, with no dates, no festival names and no prices. The swappable layer carries everything that changes: this weekend's offer, the menu, a festival-only deal.
On cost per use, reusable kit wins easily. A backdrop that does Beyond the Pale, then the Kaleidoscope Festival and Electric Picnic, costs a third as much per event as one printed for a single weekend. Interchangeable pop up banners let you keep the hardware and swap the graphic. You can even refresh the stand mid-weekend by swapping a table runner or a Corriboard insert, which gives Sunday's crowd something new. Reusable kit also means less waste, and our eco-friendly range includes PVC-free banners for the parts you want printed fresh.
Signage that copes with Wicklow wind and rain
Glendalough Estate is woodland, lakeside and grass, and mid-June in Wicklow can mean sun, a downpour and a stiff breeze on the same afternoon. Choose materials for where each sign will sit. PVC banners suit exposed fronts and fences. Mesh banners let wind pass through, which we'd go for on any long, open fence run. Corriboard handles light outdoor signs, and Foamex is better kept under cover. Leave paper prints and indoor display stands at home, because an indoor pull-up on open grass will blow over or warp. If you want a pull-up outside, use an outdoor pull up banner built for it.
Pack this weather and spares kit:
- Spare cable ties, bungees and gaffer tape for loose banners
- Water weights or sandbags for flag bases, gazebo legs and pull-ups, plus ground spikes for soft grass
- A spare tablecloth or table runner for day two or three
- Dry bags or covers to protect graphics and fabric overnight
- A torch for packing down after dark
Whatever you fix or weigh down, check it meets the organisers' safety rules. If they set a rule on guy ropes or ballast, follow it to the letter.
Measuring whether your festival branding worked
Decide before the weekend what success looks like: sales, mailing-list sign-ups, samples handed out, conversations with stockists, or social follows. Then make each one countable. Use a QR code that's specific to Beyond the Pale and goes to its own landing page, and print a short web address beside it in case phone signal is weak in the woods. Set up a separate till category for festival sales, or keep a simple sign-up form on a tablet at the counter.
Afterwards, add up your stand, travel and print costs and divide by the sales or leads you got. Ask your team which signs people pointed at and which questions came up again and again, because those questions belong on next year's signs. Photograph the finished stand on day one, note what got damaged or never came out of the box, and list what you'll reuse. Our post on measuring print marketing performance covers tracking in more depth.
FAQs
How much does a stand at Beyond the Pale cost?
Ask the festival for its trader or partner fees when you apply, and check what's included: power, staff passes, parking, camping for your team, and whether the price includes VAT. For the print side, we quote per job once we know your pitch size and the items you need.
Is Beyond the Pale a good fit for my business?
It's an over-21s camping festival built around music, art, food and wellness, so it suits brands and traders aimed at adults looking for a premium weekend. Ask yourself whether you can staff three long days, carry enough stock without vehicle access to your pitch, and cope with the weather. If the expected sales or leads cover the full cost, it's worth applying.
How far in advance should I order stand graphics?
Start as soon as your pitch and the festival's display rules are confirmed. Leave time for design, sign-off, production and delivery, plus a margin for changes. Talk to us early with your list and event date and we'll give you a deadline based on your products and quantities. June is busy festival season, so don't leave it to the last week.
Can you deliver to Glendalough Estate?
We deliver nationwide across Ireland, and Glendalough is close to us. Site access depends on the organisers' load-in plan, so it's usually simplest for us to deliver to your premises before the weekend, which also gives you time to check every piece.
